Gynecology & Womens Wellness

Dr. Tijerino is a Board Certified Gynecologic physician with 22+ years of combined surgical and clinical experience. As a woman herself, she understands the sensitive and complex needs of the female patient. We treat many gynecological conditions with a personalized patient focused approach, using lifestyle, medications, in-office procedures and surgeries.

Your gynecologic health is important – no matter your age or stage in life. Optimal health begins with an annual exam. However, our care for you extends far beyond that. Office Procedures

I don’t perform procedures in the hospital, or admit to the hospital, though I am happy to confer with your admitting physician and follow your progress.

***I believe most gynecologic problems can be solved in the office, so please see me for a second opinion if a provider recommends an invasive procedure for you. Please also see me for a second opinion if you have been recommended to undergo multiple pap smears or other procedures, or for any other advice you have been given that you are uncomfortable with.

*****If you are my patient and I believe a major surgery is indicated, I will refer you to an appropriate specialist, as I perform all of my procedures in my office.

Perimenopause, or the menopausal transition,

Perimenopause, or the menopausal transition, is the time leading up to a woman’s last period. Transitioning to menopause may produce uncertainty, as periods can stop and then start again unpredictably.

Perimenopause, by definition, lasts until a year has passed since your last period. Beginning in your 30s and 40s, the amount of estrogen produced by the ovaries begins to fluctuate. A common sign of perimenopause is a change in your menstrual cycle. Cycles may become longer or shorter than usual. You may begin to skip periods. The amount of flow during your period may increase or decrease. These hormone changes can lead to other symptoms, including hot flashes, which can last for months or years after a woman’s period stops.

Menopause and Perimenopause affects every woman differently.
Some women have no symptoms, while others experience life changes including hot flashes, sleep troubles, and mood swings. It’s not always possible to tell if these changes are related to aging, perimenopause, menopause, or a combination of factors. While this may seem daunting, there are so many ways to feel better!Perimenopause / Menopause FAQ resource link
